NAME

isasciiASCII character test

SYNOPSIS

isascii(int c);

DESCRIPTION

The isascii() function tests for an ASCII character, which is any character with a value less than or equal to 0177.

RETURN VALUES

The isascii() function returns zero if the character tests false or non-zero if the character tests true.

STANDARDS

The isascii() function conforms to X/Open Portability Guide Issue 4 (“XPG4”).

HISTORY

The isascii() function first appeared in Version 7 AT&T UNIX.

CAVEATS

The argument to isascii() must be EOF or representable as an unsigned char; otherwise, the result is undefined.
