(const
char *nptr);
The
atof
()
function converts the initial portion of the string pointed to by
nptr to double
representation.
It is equivalent to:
strtod(nptr, (char **)NULL);
The atof
() function conforms to
ANSI X3.159-1989
(“ANSI C89”).
An atof
() function first appeared in
Version 1 AT&T UNIX.
On systems other than OpenBSD, the
LC_NUMERIC
locale(1) category can cause parsing
failures; see CAVEATS in setlocale(3)
for details.
