atoi(3), atol(3), strtod(3), strtol(3), strtoul(3)

The atof() function conforms to ANSI X3.159-1989 (“ANSI C89”).

An atof() function first appeared in Version 1 AT&T UNIX.

On systems other than OpenBSD, the LC_NUMERIC locale(1) category can cause parsing failures; see CAVEATS in setlocale(3) for details.
